（中央社台北2014年9月17日電）金融時報今天報導，大陸最怕的噩夢之一就是資源豐富的半自治省份要求公投獨立。因此，當被問及如何看待蘇格蘭獨立時，大陸總理李克強不出所料地回答，「支持英國保持統一」。

報導指出，在中國大陸，分裂主義等同於叛國，也是大陸國家主席習近平誓言消滅的「三股邪惡勢力」之一，中共黨政高層正帶著疑慮關注蘇格蘭的民主活動。

在蘇格蘭公投前夕，中共黨媒和大陸官媒發表系列社論，警告蘇格蘭民族主義的危險。

中共黨媒環球時報稱，如果沒有蘇格蘭，英國將淪為一個二流國家，「蘇格蘭獨立運動還告訴我們，像英國這樣的老牌發達國家遠沒有我們想的那樣穩定」。

香港的中國問題專家林和立表示，北京擔心，部分省份的民眾可能從蘇格蘭的獨立訴求中獲得啟發，並產生他們自己的想法，「從新疆、西藏到程度較輕的香港，支持獨立的那群人都在關注著此一國際先例」。
