高雄氣爆事故造成許多民眾家園受創，美國華府地區的美京中華會館和大華府地區僑學界，將於8月17日在僑教中心大禮堂舉辦「天祐台灣高雄再起賑災義賣會」，募得款項將交由僑委會轉致災區，協助災民重整家園。

駐美代表沈呂巡除了捐款共襄盛舉，也將提供一些紀念品義賣，以實際行動協助災民。僑教中心主任劉綏珍表示，這次活動包括客家會、華府台灣同鄉聯誼會、台美人媽媽教室、中文學校聯誼會、台灣商會、巴爾地摩台美協會、婦聯會大華府分會等僑團，都將設攤加入義賣。
